Horseman’s Green Village Guild

The guild was set up in January 2015.

Essentially it is the residents of Horseman’s Green and its surrounding area coming together in friendship groups to either share their skills/talents or enjoy group experiences. There is no membership fee and no obligation to attend each activity. It is a general community interest and social group.

Activities to date have involved: walks, talks, trips, crafting sessions, demonstrations, summer BBQ, Christmas Carols, theatre visits, interest visits, a garden trail and a Family treasure hunt! There is generally one activity per month, and it is hoped that over the year all age groups within the local community will have had an opportunity to participate in an activity, should they so wish. To this end some activities are specifically planned for weekends.

There is no ‘leader’, merely a co-ordinator. Individuals take responsibility for organising the different activities. It is a non-profit making group, where costs are shared equally around those participating. A planning meeting is held to which all residents are invited and offer ideas for the forthcoming year. A Calendar is produced and regular, quarterly News Drops give further detailed information of activities.

The Guild is a self financing, self initiating and inclusive group. Its ultimate aim is to strengthen and support community life in what is essentially an isolated area of limited social provision.
