Inspired to Make

Meet new people, create something amazing and pick up a handy new skill.

Are you a crafter who wants to try something new or discover new techniques?

Have you always wanted to craft but don’t know where to start or have the materials needed?

Everyone is made welcome at our monthly sessions where, for two hours, you can craft to your hearts content; these sessions are usually held on the third Thursday in the month, but please do check the latest Newsletter or the Hall calendar on Facebook, as this sometimes changes.

Andrea, who leads these sessions, provides all the materials and equipment you will need, but if you have something you would like to incorporate in your craft piece you are very welcome to bring it along.

If you've ever fancied giving handicraft a try, this is the perfect place to do it and all for only £4 a session.

Every month we try something different, or return to an earlier craft style to develop our skills further. One month you could be making something with paper and card, and the next using clay, paints or fabric and threads. You’ll find photos on this website and also on Horseman’s Green Community Facebook page of some of our makes.

For details of the next meeting etc. please see the latest Newsletter

This may be an early start to Christmas preparations but we had a lovely morning at Inspired to Make, making these decorations from corks and cones, Christmas trees, decorations and cute snowmen and chatting with friends.

Our next session is on 23rd November when we'll be quilling snowflakes. For more information call Andrea 07936 299523

January 2024 Session

In January we used Form-A-Lines patterns to hand-stitched greeting cards, or you can use the lovely design as a picture. There was a wide range of patterns available, including animal patterns, flower patterns, people & buildings. Doreen, one of the Inspired to Make ladies donated the patterns to the group and answered any queries.  We hope to make Christmas designs at the end of the year.

Wales & St. David's Day

Hi everyone, take a look at what the ladies at Inspired to Make have made for the Hall; two wonderful dragon, button panels to celebrate Wales and St David's Day. Well done ladies.

History

Paper crafting sessions started in September 2015 as part of the Horseman’s Green Guild activities.  Sessions were held on a monthly basis at Andrea’s kitchen table, where those attending developed and learnt new skills. During the first few months the group made paper flowers, a hanging decoration of birds, hearts and flowers and another with butterflies. In November the group made Christmas themed wall decorations and angels. During 2016 activities extended to various other crafts and the number participated continued to grow. By August we decided the group needed a name and Inspired to Make was born. By the end of 2016 the group was making items to sell and we were all pleased when we were able to donate over £225 to the Community Hall funds.

With the reopening of the building as Horseman’s Green Community Hall in 2017 Inspired to Make moved its monthly meetings to the hall where the number of different crafts we worked continued to grow. By early 2020 we had a very active and wide spread group, with between 8 and 15 people at a session and hope to get back to the Hall in the near future.
